FAQs

Is this product totally made in Vietnam?

Yes. Koppen is a Vietnamese kitchenware brand. All wood is sourced from FSC-certified plantations, and our products are crafted in leading Vietnamese factories specializing in premium tropical hardwood – ensuring high precision, efficiency, and exceptional value.

Does Koppen use sustainable materials?

Absolutely. We are committed to using sustainably harvested wood and bamboo, minimizing impact on local ecosystems and communities.

Are your products food-safe?

Yes! We never use harmful chemicals or synthetic coatings. All our surfaces are finished using certified food-grade oils, ensuring absolute safety in the kitchen.

What kind of bamboo is used in Koppen cutting boards?

Vietnamese bamboo is known for its strength, rapid renewability, and excellent adaptability to humid conditions. All products are handcrafted and chemical-free.

What is thermo-treated bamboo and how is it different?

It’s bamboo that has been heat- and pressure-treated without chemicals. The process enhances its durability, water resistance, and structural integrity—making it safer and longer-lasting.

Why is moistureblock™ bamboo ideal for cutting boards?

It absorbs less moisture, resists warping, and offers better natural hygiene than untreated bamboo. Its smooth surface makes it perfect for food preparation.

Are the products coated or treated in any way?

Yes. All Koppen products are pre-treated with imported, certified food-grade mineral oil to preserve moisture and extend longevity—while staying completely food-safe.

Can I put this in the dishwasher?

No. Natural wood and bamboo should not go in the dishwasher. Prolonged heat and moisture may cause cracking, swelling, or warping

Do I need to do anything before first use?

Our boards are pre-oiled with food-grade mineral oil and ready to use. Just rinse it with water and wipe dry with a kitchen towel before first use.

How should I clean the board?

After each use:
– Wash with warm water and mild soap
– Wipe dry with a kitchen towel or let it air dry completely
– Store only when fully dry
– Never soak or put in the dishwasher

Do I need to re-oil the board?

Yes. We recommend applying food-grade mineral oil every 3–4 weeks to keep the surface smooth and moisturized—especially for cutting boards.

Will the product mold or absorb odors?

If stored properly (dry and well-ventilated), it won’t mold or hold odors. Both bamboo and wood have light natural resistance to bacteria and odors.

Can I use both sides of the cutting board?

Yes. Many of our boards are dual-sided—one grooved side for juicy foods, and a flat side for cutting or presentation.

Is this a good gift item?

Absolutely. Our packaging is carefully designed to be elegant and gift-ready—perfect for housewarmings, holidays, or any special occasion.
